- January 19 1809: Edgar Allan Poe is born
- December 8 1811: Poe's parents die from tuberculosis. He is then adopted by the Richmond family
- June 22 1815: Poe and his family move to London where he begins his schooling
- July 27 1820: Poe moves back to America
- November 1824: Poe writes his first poem
- May 16 1836: Poe gets married to Virginia Clemm
- 1845: Poe writes his highly sucessful poem "The Raven"
- January 30 1847: Poe's wife, Virginia Clemm, dies due to tuberculosis. This puts Poe in a state of deep depression
- November 1848: Poe gets engaged to Sarah Whitman, but she calls it off due to Poe's alcoholism
- October 7 1849: Poe dies of an unknown cause
